My Kids are Saving the World: #4.3, Atican’s Discovery of the 4.3rd Dimension

Everyone's heard of 2D and 3D, and maybe even 4D but not 4.3D. That will all change when Atican is done with his book. But that will be at least a year from now. Atican can write really fast, but he's always being called away to save the world, or help old ladies cross streets, so he only gets to write once-in-awhile.

4.3D, you'll soon find out, is the place above 4D, specifically, the space between 4D and 5D. In case you are wondering, there is no 4.4D or 4.7D. That would be ridiculous. It's just 4.3D and that is because this dimension is closer to 4D than to 3D or 5D. Let me explain.

When we talk about 2D, we are talking about an object with width and height. In 3D, you add depth, or in rare cases, Time. In 4D, you add Time to width, height and depth. What Atican discovered, though, was that when you add Time to 3D, you really get 4.3D. You see, time is relative. While depth is only distance, with time you can measure distance OR time. You can say, "How far is that city?" and get the answer in distance, "40 miles" or Time, "45 minutes." Both are understandable and accurate. But you can't ask "How long will it take to get to that city?" and receive a distance answer like "40 miles." Distance, or depth, is only distance. Time's unique ability to function above and beyond the call of duty is what gives it the extra third of a dimension, making time more than a single dimension, it is 1.3 dimensions, but all within the useful space of a single dimension. That's the point three (.3) of the 4.3rd Dimension.

But since there is 1 and 1/3 dimension taking up only the space of a single dimension, Atican discovered how to split the Time dimension, leaving him the useful 1/3 that 4D can do without. Now, this 1/3 can be used for evil, so we aren't going to get into how to do the splitting, though perhaps Atican's book will (reserve your copy on Amazon.com now!). For now, let me tell you about how it can be used. Later, I'll tell you the story about how Atican used this 1/3 Dimension and won a battle with Sindictive Nastevil and saved the world.

This 1/3Dimension, split off from 4.3D, leaving a perfect 4D with the regular uses of time left behind, the remainder is speed. Since the dimension of time is most useful alongside distance one can determine speed if one knows the distance travelled in a certain time. This spare 1/3, it turns out, was speed in it's purest form.

Atican designed a practical device called the Accelajolt, which while it doesn't actually allow you to jump through time, you can at least get there really fast. You just plug in the three dimensions where you are now (GPS is accurate enough), the three dimension where you want to end up, then add the 4th Dimension, Time which is how fast you want to get there. It can be set in seconds, minutes or hours. Atican didn't figure anyone would want to use days. Why not just take a commercial flight?

Once all the settings are entered, all you do is activate the extra 1/3, which is split off from the rest, leaving pure speed. This pure speed is what gets you from here to there in whatever time you entered into the Accelajolt. Be prepared for the jolt, of course, which can be wicked harsh. Don't worry about running into trees or mountains or buildings or people, though. Even Galileo knew that pure speed takes on an opaque consistency that allows it to flow around and through objects. Pure speed is a light wave, blue in color and which looks a little bit like a foggy day.

Atican is looking now to build a superprism to split pure colors. He theorizes that there is a perfect shade of fuchsia that will provide the world with all the energy it will ever need.
